In recognition of Nigerian independence day, The Nigerian Student Association and the Lewis Center for the Arts of Princeton University are hosting The Canon 65 Years Later, literary perspective of the stories that have been produced since independence. The panel discussion will feature prominent Nigerian writers including Lola Shoneyin, Helon Habila, and Nnedi Okorafor and explore the nuances that accompany postcolonial writing — i.e., tribal identities, writing from the diaspora, and writing in resistance — and provide a road map for looking forward to the coming years of the Nigerian postcolonial storytelling.
