Saturday March 25th: PNP Dialogue Series

It’s back! Join us for our next installment of the PNP Dialogue Series. What is the Dialogue Series? It’s a fun, new way to discuss current events and issues affecting Nigerians and other Africans in the diaspora. We try to bring different perspectives and encourage friendly & solution-oriented debate.
For this this installment, the topic is The Rise of the African Athlete. In years past (and still in the present) virtually every Nigerian parent’s aspirations for their child centered around careers in the medical field, engineering, law, or the sciences. Professional athletics was rarely emphasized and was always second to our “books.”
But today we are seeing more and more athletes of Nigerian descent achieving success at the college and professional levels of basketball and football. How did this happen? And is this signaling a cultural shift in and outside of Nigeria?  Let’s discuss it at the next Dialogue Series!
